OUR HISTORY
In September 2015, Raul Hernández published in a Facebook group in Edinburgh to see who was encouraged to build castells. The result was a group of about 10 people who signed up. After a few weeks of informal rehearsals, the group of novices decided to find a venue where regular rehearsals could be carried out.
On 31st November, on the occasion of the Castanyada, the first official presentation of the colla took place, where the first castell was made in public. This event allowed to build relationships with other groups such as the Centre Català d'Escòcia and presented castells to the city of Edinburgh.
The colla has been steadily growing since its inception. Despite facing challenges such as the ebb and flow of people from around the world, which complicates consistent rehearsals, the colla has managed to achieve some impressive castells. We are constantly pushing our limits to build higher structures, always prioritising the health and safety of our members.
In the recent years, the colla has achieved a 3d6 until aixecadora in three occasions, as well as solidifying our ability with pilars of 4.
The aim of the colla is the practice and promotion of castells. Our overarching goal is to promote the growth and dissemination of castells, bringing the people of Scotland closer to this traditional aspect of Catalan Culture. This is achieved through performances at festivals and events of a popular nature.
